FIJI 7s team head coach Gareth Baber will be part of the inaugural Radradra 7s tournament on Taveuni Island this week.

This was confirmed yesterday by tournament director Sakiasi Veitogavi.

Baber is expected to arrive on the island tomorrow to scout new players and observe some overseas-based reps participating in the tournament.

Veitogavi said Baber’s presence would boost the performance of players who were eager to be selected into the national squad for the annual HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series.

“Not only we will be blessed with his presence, but it would inspire the players to expose their talents,” Veitogavi said.

“Semi Radradra wants local players, especially in the islands to get a chance to perform in front of the national 7s coach.”

Baber’s focus will be players he would select for his squad to the 2020 Olympics and the 2019/2020 HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series.
