Building on combinations is what 21-time champions Ba is facing in the 2023 Digicel Fiji Premier League (DFPL) competition.

Ba has five players in the Digicel Junior Boys team preparing for the FIFA Under-20 World Cup which is scheduled to start in May.

The players include Nabil Begg, Samuela Navoce, Gulam Razool, Fataul Rahim and Faazil Faizul Ali.

Ba Football Association president Sunny Khan says the side will also be without Etonia Dogolau and Lewa who are on suspension following two consecutive cautions.

“The training has been disrupted because we have to get all our boys to train together for more than two day,” Khan said.

“The Fiji under-20 players have been training on their own while our squad has been training separately.

“The idea when you set the best combinations is to play 11 against 11. This is how you build a winning team. We have players in the Fiji under-20 team that have only been released for this weekend’s game.

“So for Ba, we will be affected until the FIFA U20 World Cup in June. After that we will be able to build the best team for the next phase of the DFPL.”

Ba will face Nadi in the competition at Prince Charles Park on Sunday at 3pm.

Nadi is one point ahead of Ba on the points table with six.

In other DFPL matches, a doubleheader will be played at the Uprising Sports Centre in Pacific Harbour.

At 1pm, Tailevu Naitasiri will host Labasa while at 3pm Navua will face Suva.

Also at 3pm, Lautoka plays Tavua at Churchill Park.
