Vuniwaqa heads delegation to the CSW 63rd session

THE Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Mereseini Vuniwaqa is currently heading a delegation at the 63rd session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) in New York.

The delegation will participate in the two weeks long meeting accompanied by side events and bilateral meetings with sister countries.

The second week will involve negotiations by member states on the outcome document for this session.

Mrs Vuniwaqa said the Commission on the Status of Women provides a great opportunity to raise our voice on the issues and successes faced by Fijian women back at home and at the same time learn from other nations with the mutual goal of achieving gender equality and the empowerment of women.

She is also expected to deliver a country statement later in the week on the theme Social protection systems, access to public services and sustainable infrastructure for gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls and also attend parallel events that includes side events and round table discussions with other women leaders and bilateral meetings.
