24,163 new jobs created from investments

THE value of investment registered in Fiji increased from $500 million to $1,096.6m from 2014 to 2018.

This was highlighted in the 2019-2020 Budget Supplement released by the Ministry of Economy.

From the investments about 24,613 new jobs were created in the country.

It was highlighted that though the number of investment proposals was lower in 2018 compared with 2017, the increase in the value of investment indicated high-impact investments coming into Fiji.

More emphasis is expected to be placed on attracting foreign direct investment from Australia, New Zealand, USA, China and Japan, among others.

In its bid to improve and streamline its services Investment Fiji is now focusing on digital marketing to develop a platform that attracts foreign investors.

It was highlighted that this would promote investment opportunities through engaging advertisements with plans in place to build a high quality, informative database for investors and importers.
