FIJIFirst party supporters have been told that the Bose Levu Vakaturaga was a dormant body whose presence had no effect on the iTaukei way of living.
While addressing supporters at a family fun day at Subrail Park, Labasa, FijiFirst candidate Jale Sigarara said many did not even know when the body was set up.
He said it was hard for the elderly to reform themselves and their mindset, but it was time to change the old system of dealing with things.
He said the extermination of the Bose Levu Vakaturaga had not affected the iTaukei way of living in any way, and neither did it affect the development of the iTaukei people.
According to Mr Sigarara, people just became attached to the Bose Levu Vakaturaga because it had become part of the iTaukei way of living.
Mr Sigarara said the respect for chiefs and elders in the community was the most important contribution that any iTaukei could do for their vanua.
He urged members of the public to refrain from listening to lies, adding that an issue abused by other political parties was the protection of the iTaukei people after the removal of the Bose Levu Vakaturaga.
