TEN Fijian ruggers will make their debut for the Swire Shipping Fiji Warriors against the Tonga A in the opening round of the World Rugby Pacific Challenge at the ANZ Stadium today.

Coach Senirusi Seruvakula named an exciting combination of 13 senior players with 10 debutants to face what is expected to be a tough Tongan side.

Seruvakula said the mixture of players would boost the performance of the young ones as they try to adapt to the style of rugby that was expected from the team.

“I trust the boys will play according to our game plan and this is a very important match for us and with the combination of the young and experienced reps I believe that the new boys will learn fast from the old ones and they will communicate with each other well during the match,” said Seruvakula.

The Fiji Airways Flying Fijians scrumhalf Frank Lomani will captain the team and this will also his first in an international competition.

Lomani said he would live up to the expectation as a team captain and had faith in his team to deliver today.

“We expect a tough and physical battle from Tonga knowing they’re always a physical side, but we’ve been preparing for this moment and we’re prepared for what’s coming tomorrow (today),” said Lomani.

“I believe we have a good set of boys in our team with the mixture of young and experienced players and I have faith in them to do their part and it’s not going to be easy but we will give our best.”

The Fiji Warriors will take on Tonga A at 5pm today and Samoa A will meet the Junior Japan at 2.30pm at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.
